He is survived by: his sons, Timothy Thornton (Maggie) of Yellow Pine, AL, Kenneth Thornton of Clara, MS and Anthony Thornton (Stephanie) of Chatom, AL; his brother John Allen Thornton (Kathy) of Baltimore, MD; and his grandchildren, Tiffany Sullivan, Aladdin Thornton (Barbara), Tyler Thornton (Jeri), Dustin Mills (Rachel), Cole Thornton, Austin Thornton (Catlin), Dominic Thornton (Allie) and Logan Thornton (Paige).
