He was predeceased by: his fathers, Robert Lee Watkins, Sr. and Vernon Lee Watkins; his grandson Cameron Thomas Stewart; his parents-in-law, Roy Clanton and Maggie Laura Clanton; and his brothers-in-law, Terry Clanton and Charles "Chuck" Souther.
He is survived by: his wife Laura Elaine Watkins of Waynesboro, MS; his children, Robert Brent Watkins (Krissi) of Nashville, TN and Shara Watkins-Bowdoin; his sister Mary Kay Watkins Souther of Waynesboro, MS; his grandchildren, Caleb Bowdoin (Charley), Caroline Watkins Caudell (Bobby), Lauren Watkins Bundy (Will), Anna Watkins and Lilly Watkins; his great grandchild James Robert Caudell; his sister-in-law Betty Clanton; his nephew Trevor Clanton; his nieces, Melanie West Harman (Reed) and Chandler Chance (Kevin); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kate Harman, Courtlyn Clanton, Blakely Chance, Brenleigh Chance, David Harman and Brantley Chance.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church Waynesboro, Samaritan's Purse, St. Jude Children's Hospital or Ronald McDonald House.
