Michael Jones Sr. Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Michael Jones Sr. (West Point, Mississippi), who passed away on June 29, 2025 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ethridge Durwood and Sarah Josephine Wise Jones; his daughter Merilyn Gallaher; and his siblings, Catherine Beaird, Kenneth and Billy Jones.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Merian Jones of Cedar Bluff; his son Michael D. Jones, Jr. (Shannon) of Starkville; his grandsons, Dr. Alex Jones (Bri) of Houston and Andrew Jones of Starkville; his siblings, Diane Jones Whitehead of Columbus, Frances Jones Rushing of Eupora, Glenn Jones (Susie) of Gulfport and Bobby Jones of Ruskin; his siblings-in-law, Annette Vest (Billy) of West Point, Roxie Brock (Gary) of Montpelier and Roy Lee Pate of Montpelier; and his close friends, Tanya West of Hamilton and Linda Hazzard of Montpelier. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, July 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the New Montpelier Baptist Church.
