With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Sammie Lamar McNeel (West Point, Mississippi), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 3, 2026 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas McNeel and Minnie Griffin McNeel; and his siblings, Mary Hurt, Clara Hampton, Sue Thomas, Robertine Morley, Eleanor McNeel Roebuck, Bilbo McNeel, Sr., Tommy McNeel, Vernie McNeel, James Montgomery, Charles Montgomery and Bob Montgomery.
He is survived by: his former spouse Darrellene Thompson; his children, Abigail and Cody; his wife Jeannie Johnson McNeel of West Point; his daughters, Melinda Herrington (Duane) of Tupelo and Melissa Miller (Carl) of West Point; his stepsons, Shelby Staten (Kerri) of Milan, Jeromiah Staten (Bryndi) of Hamilton and Marcus Staten (Tammy) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Charles Scott of West Point, Elizabeth White (Don) of Midland, Clara Seitz of London and England; his stepgrandchildren, Abigail and Cody Staten of Hamilton; and his siblings-in-law, Betty McNeel of Mantee and Jessie Johnson (Peggy) of Pontotoc. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
