He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Lee Mathis and Charsie Coggins Walker; his children, Tonya Mathis, Cathy Mathis and Rodney Mathis; his sister Diane Gill; and his stepmother Genie Mathis.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Mathis of West Point; his children, Dawn Coleman (Jonathan), Robert Mathis and Steve Mathis, Jr. (Heather); his brothers, Wayne Mathis and Joe Mathis; his stepfather Lowell Walker; and his grandchildren, Alex Mitchell, Jake Mathis, Zach Mathis, Kara Mathis, Sierra Mathis, Avery Pinkerton, Eli Ingram, Stevie Marie Mathis, Mckinna Mathis, Raeleigh Mathis and Bradley Cummings. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Robinson Funeral Home (869 E Broad St, West Point, MS 39773). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Robinson Funeral Home Chapel (869 E Broad St, West Point, MS 39773).
