He was predeceased by: his parents, H. T. Hathcock and Shirley Aldridge Hathcock; his brothers, Davis, Jimmy and Buddy Hathcock; and his daughter Sandy Gilbert.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Steed Hathcock; his daughters, Caron Hathcock Graziosi and Tammy Tate; and his siblings, George Hathcock and Mary Jane Allen. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: nine great-grandchildren: and a host of nieces and nephews.
