He was predeceased by: his parents, Craig Simpson and Sarah Mozetta Ekermeyer (Brown); and his brother James Steven Ekermeyer. He is survived by: his sister Sarah Ekermeyer Wooley; and his nephews, James Williams and Tim Tracy.
