He was predeceased by: his parents, John Robert and Lucille Hooper Avent; his wife Willie Sue Blaylock Avent; his daughter Debra Kay Avent; and his siblings, Elsi Avent, Ethylee Fason, Catherine Ray, Ruby Myers, Jewel Wilson and Jimmy Avent.
He is survived by: his children, Brenda Rigby (Jerry) of Carmack, Gail Johnson (James "Bubba") of Eupora and John G. Avent (Angel) of French Camp; his siblings, Joyce Wolfe, Eva Mae Poe, Grace Ellis, June Coleman and Joseph "Joe" Avent of Glenn Avent, J. G; his grandchildren, Rosie Rigby Terry, Bobbie Sue Horne, James Travis Johnson, Hunter Johnson and Zach Avent; and his great grandchildren, Laike Horne, Laila Horne, Lane Horne, Luke Terry, Blake Johnson and Delta Claire Johnson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
