He was predeceased by: his wife Rose Mary; and his sons, Bernard Jr. and Kenneth. He is survived by: his children, Michael Witschen, Rosella Lienhart, Charles Witschen (Teresa), Steven Witschen (Yong Suk) and Veronica McElroy (Dave). He is also survived by several grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Bernard's family has suggested memorial donations be made in his memory to St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church, the Big Sandy Medical Center, or the Big Sandy Senior Center.
