He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Hauptman and Anne Hauptman; and his brother Dick. He is survived by: his siblings, Jim (Linda), John (Linda), Tom (Kim), Leila (Dean) and Anne (Brian). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
