He is survived by: his wife Cathie Willits; his son Chris Cross (Jayme); his grandsons, Brady and Joe; his daughter Tricia Kurth; his grandchildren, Rase and Kevin; his daughter Kate Cross; and his brother-in-law Jim Willits.

“I am Greatly saddened by the passing of Joe. Joe was my cousin, and a person that I looked up to as a boy growing up. I lived in the Bronx in NYC, and he lived in the small Upstate NY town name Antwerp. Some of my absolute happiest times of my life were the days during Summer when I could leave the life on the streets of the Bronx, and visit my cousin Joe and beloved aunt Hazel. I will never forget my big bold cousin and how I wanted to be just like him. God Bless and rest your soul Joe.”
