It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Fern E. Vonderheide (Billings, Montana), who passed away on September 20, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank E. Smith and Della Barone Smith; her siblings, Irene Gribble (Butch), John Smith and Donald Smith; her daughter Kathleen Larson; and her grandchildren, Aaron Coles, Samantha Houghton (Walt), Ryan Shore, Jennifer Vonderheide, William Horejs (Ali), Joseph Horejs (Erica) and Rodney Coles.
She is survived by: her siblings, Yvonne Smith, Melvin Smith (Middy) and Frank E. Smith Jr.; her children, Judy Coles, William "Bill" Horejs, Melissa Shore and Michael Vonderheide (Lynn); and her great grandchildren, Henry, Lily Houghton, Nicholas, Gabriella, Jacob and Anthony Horejs. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations in Fern's name be made to the organization that was so close to her heart: the Big Sky Optimists, 3460 Cook Ave, Billings, MT 59102.
