He was predeceased by: his parents, George Gartner and Barbara Gartner; and his siblings, Joseph, Thomas, Regina, Raymond, Laurabell, Marian, Betty and Margaret.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Petsch; his family Riverton; his daughter-in-law Beth; his grandson Zach; his caregiver Paula; his children, Jim (Jeanette 'JJ'), Jason (Beth) and Jennifer Schaaf (Jason Monroe); his grandchildren, Zachery Gartner, Jessica Strand (Alex), Jared Schaaf, Jace Schaaf, Justin Gartner and Grace Gartner; his great grandchild Rowan George Strand; his sisters-in-law, Lois Divelbiss (John) and Jeannie Cox (Jim); and also Lois.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Michelotti-Sawyers Funeral Chapel (1001 Alderson Ave, Billings, MT 59102). A burial will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at the Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park (3605 Grand Ave, Billings, MT 59102).
