He was predeceased by: his parents, John Erik Phil and Anna Phil (Brandvold); and his sisters, Esther Nelson, Erma Oestreich and Rita Bellah.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Phil of Billings, MT; his son Marshall (Tali Phil) of Billings, MT; his siblings, Arvis Franks of Portland, OR and Darrell Dirstine of Spokane, WA; his grandchildren, Kaitlin, Emerson and Wiley; and his great grandchild Baker.
