He was predeceased by: his father Ervin Kaatz; and his grandparents, Martha, Helmuth Kaatz, Earl and Josie Knudson.

He is survived by: his mother Lois Kaatz (Knudson); his siblings, Cheryl Stracener (Bob), Pam Chapin, Karla Johnson (Scott) and Jason Kaatz (Melissa); his nieces, Michaela Chapin, Trista McClay (Will), Tonya Bruner (Phil), Tara Cole (Steve) and Thea Michaelsen; his nephew Zachary Stracener (Angie); and his great-nephews, Logan Stracener, Ty Bruner and Brayden Stracener.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary (1001 Alderson Ave, Billings, MT 59102).
