He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Wheaton and Phyllis Wheaton (Wagner); and his brother Mike. He is survived by: his wife Kathy (White); his sons, Dennis (Jacquie) and John Paul (Amanda); his brothers, David (Jeanne), Richard (Debbie), Jeff (Marie) and Kevin (Dianna); and his grandchildren, Taya, Annaka, Kadynce of Kinleigh, JJ and Elijah.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
