We are sad to announce that on June 3, 2025, at the age of 86, Raymond H. Frates of Billings, Montana, born in Sacramento, California passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his former wife Frances Frates; his parents, Norma Frates and Raymond Frates Sr.; his brother Tom Frates; and his pets, Bacchus, Yankee and Gator.
He is survived by: his wife Mavis; his pet Riv; his children, Sondra Nichols (Aaron), Joe Bailey (Michelle), John Bailey (Theresa) and Jim Bailey (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Faith Nichols (Zane), Trista Bailey, Lexi Bailey, Alissa Bailey, Samantha Bailey, Morgan Bailey, Tasha Selman, Cory Bailey, Justin Foy, Jaxon Bailey, James Bailey, Jonathan Bailey, Joshua Bailey and Preston Bailey; his aunt Barb; his cousin Bob Baker; and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Tactacan, Francisco Nantes (Toni) and Kathy Mahaney. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Smith Downtown Chapel (925 S 27th St, Billings, MT 59101). A rosary will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the St. Bernard Church (226 Wicks Ln, Billings, MT 59105). A reception will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Knights of Columbus/Columbia Club (2216 Grand Ave, Billings, MT 59102).
