He was predeceased by : his parents, Gerald Cathey and Ursula Cathey (Beilage); his siblings, Alvin, Jean Hough, Tudy Christenson and Shirley Slayton; and his former life partner Velma Smith.

He is survived by : his children, Greg, Todd, Cynthia Rock, Lori Walker and Darcy Smith; and his siblings, Kenny, Jerry, Gary, Rita Wice and Bonnie Burley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, 12 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
