He was predeceased by : his parents, Harry S. Stewart and Jessie M. Stewart; his wife Frances Hastie; his sister Janet S. Sampson; and his children-in-law, Linda Louise Stewart and Henry William "Sonny" Philp.

He is survived by : his close friend Frances; his children, David Stewart and Carole Philp; and his grandchildren, Randy Philp, Laurie Philp-Payne, Dori Roberts and Scott Stewart. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
