She was predeceased by: her father Charles M. MaCauley; her siblings, Jamec, Anna Elizabeth, Joseph'Joe'M., Virginia M, Marian M., Helen E, Richard M., Lucy M, Charlotte P., Jessie J. and Freda L.; and her daughter Christine Rose Layne.
She is survived by: her sibling Major Michael M. McCauley; her children, McCauley Butte and Emma Elizabeth Burks; her family, McCauley Ranch and McCauley Butte; her spouse Almer Lee Layne, Sr.; her children, Charles M., Almer Lee (Jeanette), Richard Gene (Carleen), Constance May, Gregory Wayne, Thomas Elliot and Robin Kevin (Isabel); and her great grandchildren, Teresa, Melanie, Jennifer, Linda, Ladan, Kathleen, Christian, Denef, Marta, Kimberly, Amarilis, Alexander and Madison.
The family has expressed a preference for donations to be made to a charity of the donor's choice, in honor of Kathryne's generous spirit and her lifelong dedication to helping others.
