She was predeceased by : her parents, John Sawyer and Elizabeth Sawyer (Mason); her husband Lyle "Smitty" Smith; her sister Helen Palmer; her great grandchild Gavin King; her siblings-in-law, Gene Palmer and Marie Sawyer; and her son-in-law Pat Weber.

She is survived by : her children, Patty Steer (Pat), Kathy Walsh (Dick) of Polson, Montana, Scott Smith of Belgrade, Janet Weber of Shepherd and Alisa Boehning (Dale) of Glendive; her grandchildren, Melissa Guelff (Michael), Todd Thompson (Kim), Thomas Walsh, Megan Walsh, John Smith and Zane Smith; her great grandchildren, Tristan Alderman, Alex Guelff and Katie Guelff; and her brother Bert Sawyer (Barb) of Glendive. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
