He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Shipley and Meverette Shipley (Bekken); his in-laws, John and Veronica Youngberg; and his sister Wanda Lydell.

He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Melanie Ptacek (Chris) of Scappoose, Oregon and Jason Shipley of Great Falls; his brothers, Dwaine (Evelyn) and Darrell (Cathy); and his siblings-in-law, Tim Lydell, Melvin Youngberg (Terrie), Sandy Tschetter (Dick), Louise Hohn (Dean) and Wanda Schmaltz (Toby). He is also survived by aunt and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
