He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Beverly Friede (Michalson) and Ralph Friede; his son Mike; his friends, Sandra and Mike; his wife Sandra; his children, Dustin Murphy, Shelbee Fritchman (Brian) and Danielle Friede; his grandchildren, Jarvis and Lucy; his siblings, Marcia Armstrong (Les), Virgina Zumbrun, Tom Friede (Debi), Pat Friede (Dot), Carol Loomis, Richard Henderson and Dory Henderson; his parents-in-law, Jack and Carolyn Murphy; and his brother-in-law John Zumbrun. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.

His family has suggested memorial donations be made in Mike's name to the Boys and Girls Club of the Hi-Line, 500 First Ave, Havre, the Northern Montana Sletten Cancer Center, 40 13th St. W, Havre, or a charity of the donor's choice.
