He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver Shortell and Joyce Shortell; his grandson Logan Osweiler; and his niece Miranda Kirby (Shortell). He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ann Davis; his children, Michele Osweiler (Mike) of Great Falls and David Shortell (Kim) of Tucson; his grandchildren, Mason Osweiler, Bryce Osweiler of Great Falls, Kayla Shortell and Alyssa Shortell of Tucson; and his siblings, Linda McKay (Ron) of Havre, Tracy Rice (Randy) of Tucson and Kevin Shortell (Candace) of Havre. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church (2015 5th Ave, Havre, MT 59501). A graveside service was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at the 5th Avenue Christian Church (2015 5th Ave, Havre, MT 59501).
