He is survived by: his wife Norma; his children, Steve Heinitz (Melanie) of Helena and Jennifer Opie (Beau) of East Helena; and his sister Susanna Dodge. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
