He was predeceased by: his father Archie; his former wife Mary Danzer; and his siblings, Marilyn Paul and Speed Smith. He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Smith (Sue); his children, Marc (Yvonne), Lauris Escudero, Joseph, Danelle, Tina Smith, Valerie Smith and Daniel Smith (Jannie); and his siblings, Carol Flikkema, Linda Smith, Jackie Allen and Bob Bond. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The military honors was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery (3550 Heroes Rd, FORT HARRISON, MT 59636). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Anderson Stevenson Wilke & Retz Funeral Home (3750 N Montana Ave, Helena, MT 59602).
