He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Walter Malikie and Marie Malikie (Klonder); his wife Lois Jean Spriet of Missoula; and his sons, John II Malikie (Lori) of Gresham, OR, Michael Malikie (Terry) of Missoula, MT and Thomas Malikie (Nancy) of Missoula, MT. He was also cherished by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and eight step-great-grandchildren.
