He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivy Nelson and Norman Nelson; and his pets, Puddles, Skip, Sam, Pooh, Mat and Sophie.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Pilgrim; his children, Mike (Kari) of Polson, Norman (Treva) of Shelby and Teri White (Dale) of Shelby; his grandchildren, Thad White, Laura Sweeney (Coltin), JoanAne Hoffman (Ty), Justin Nelson (Jayleen), Cody Nelson and Hannah Nelson; his great grandchildren, Carol Anne, Zoe Lynn White, Carston, Olivia Sweeney, Gavin, Liam Hoffman, Oran and Dax Nelson; and his sister Glenda Negrones (Dave) of Bremerton, WA..
