He was predeceased by: his parents, Steve Kovatch and Mary Kovatch; his brothers, Joe, Merle, Harry and Bob; and his son-in-law Dick Popiel.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Ihnen; his children, Mike Kovatch (Kathy), Leslie Popiel, Karen Czech (Rick) and Gail Klette (Mike); and his sister Patsy Habets. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
