He is survived by: his wife Jane Elizabeth Thomas; his children, Mark Pierce (Julie), Jill Pierce Armistead (Kenneth) and Tammy Pierce Hertel (Charlie); his grandchildren, Jarrett Pierce (Marilyn), Melinda Mackey (Marc), Lee Hertel (Erica), Candice Hertel (Ivaylo), Jake Smith (Chelsea) and Joshua Smith; and his stepgrandchildren, Scott and Chris Armistead. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
