John M. Burcin Obituary
John M. Burcin, 85, husband of the late Candace M. (Krause) Burcin, of Advance, NC formerly of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
Born on November 9, 1940 in Tamaqua, PA he was the son of the late John and Mary (Krist) Burcin.
John, better known as Jack, served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War where he earned numerous commendations including a Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm.
He earned his Bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University and worked in Asset Control Management at Unisys Corporation.
He was an active member of St. Basil the Great Parish, Kimberton, PA, and later Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons, NC. He was an avid golfer throughout his life and loved sports of all kinds, especially Penn State Football. Jack loved flowers and bird watching and dearly loved the family dog, Pebbles.
He is survived by his two children: Christopher M. husband of Michelle Burcin and Shelley S. wife of Ayalneh Merid; two grandchildren: Marcia Merid and James Burcin;. He was preceded in death by brother, Robert, husband of Kay Burcin and two sisters: Florence Postupack and Vilma Boulifard.
A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 2340 Kimberton Road, Phoenixville, PA on Monday September 28th.
A viewing will be held in the church from 9:45 to 10:45 am followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the church at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 2330 Kimberton Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
