He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Lazarus Simmons and Willie Brown Simmons; his former wife Glenda Rudd Huntley; his wife Peggy Simmons; his great grandchildren, Aiden Burns and Troy Burns; his siblings, Sandra Hall, Shelby Williamson and Freddie Simmons; and his nephew Derrick Roach.
He is survived by: his daughter June Simmons Parrish (Jerry); his grandchildren, Devin Burns and Ashlee Parrish; his stepgrandchildren, Brandon Hoke and Taylor Hoke; and his great grandchildren, Mattisen Parrish, Grayson Burns and Killian Burns.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Altamahaw Baptist Church, 3445 Altamahaw Church St, Elon, NC 27244.
