With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Alexander Auten Jr. of Albemarle, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 18, 2025 at the age of 76. He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Sr. Auten and Ivey Auten of Albemarle, NC.; and his brother Robert Vann Auten. He is survived by: his wife Margie; his son Jace Auten (Angela) of Polkville; his grandchildren, Alex, Natalie and Tomas; his son Nat Auten (Jennifer) of Hickory; his grandchild Saylor; his daughter Katie Mayes (Tommy) of Altamonte Springs, FL; his nephew Josh English (Heather) of Hendersonville; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Ethan and Rayne; his nephew Kevin English (Jenny) of Columbus, NC.; and his aunt Trudy.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Shelby Presbyterian Church (226 E Graham St, Shelby, NC 28150). A reception will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shelby Presbyterian Church for the Youth Program, or Hospice of Cleveland County.
