He was predeceased by: his parents, Audry McCroskey and Mary Lee McCroskey; and his siblings, Audry Burdette McCroskey, Jr., Grady Lee McCroskey, Wayne Tarlton, Richard Tarlton and Ardyth Lanier McCroskey.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine McCroskey; his daughters, Michelle Haywood (Ray) of Mt. Gilead and Heather Blalock (Bret) of Mt. Gilead; his grandchildren, Olivia Grace Haywood (Paris), Marylee Haywood (Justin), Bret Blalock, Jr. (Leanna) and Taylor Kime (Jake); his great grandchildren, Leah, Bo, Reed, Eli, Evan, Kaeson, Lyndon and Geneva; and his siblings, Herman Tarlton, Shirley Stitt and Beverly Story. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stanly Rescue (PO Box 994 Albemarle, NC 28002).
