She was predeceased by: her parents, Horace McLendon and Hazel Bell Cole McLendon; and her husband Jeremiah Shepherd. She is survived by: her children, Horace Christopher Owens, Dr. Anita Owens-Scott (Elder J. Michael), Parthenia Tijuana "TJ" Atkins and Marcus L. Owens (Fredia); her daughter-in-law Amanda Owens; and her siblings, Mary Kirkley and Johnny Harrell (Beverly). She is also survived by eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
