She was predeceased by: her parents, Bernard Edwards and Lillie Coffey Edwards; her husband Billy Clifford Payne; and her siblings, Eula Cordell, Kathleen Young, Floyd Edwards and Attley Edwards.

She is survived by: her children, Teressa Roberson (Richard), Deena Fortune and Donald Payne (Tanya); and her grandchildren, Jason Payne (Stacie), Matthew Payne (Taylor), Shawn Roberson (Jessica) and Christopher Roberson (Amanda). She is also survived by Nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Old Bull Creek Missionary Baptist Church (3685 Walnut Creek Rd, Marshall, NC 28753). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Old Bull Creek Missionary Baptist Church (3685 Walnut Creek Rd, Marshall, NC 28753). A burial will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at the Old Bull Creek Baptist Church Cemetery (3685 Walnut Creek Rd, Marshall, NC 28753).
