She was predeceased by: her parents, John Alexander Payne, Sr. and Girlie Stilwell Payne; and her siblings, Cherry Payne, Joyce Duncan and Eddie Payne.
She is survived by: her husband Boyd Steve Grigg; her daughter Angie Gales (Jamie); her grandson Steven Gales (Lesley); her great grandchild Mason; her siblings, John Payne, Jr. (Haroleen), Lonnie Payne and Sandy Lindsey (Steve); her sister-in-law Marilyn Payne; and her pet Dolly. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the Alexis Baptist Church (118 Alexis Church Rd, Alexis, NC 28006). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
