He was predeceased by: his wife Mildred Purifoy Riggs; and his son Edward Lee Riggs, Sr.. He is survived by: his daughters, Bessie Riggs Rice and Shirley Riggs Allen; and his daughter-in-law Rosemary Edwards Riggs. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
