He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Yates and Jane Yates; and his brother Charles "Chuck" Yates. He is survived by: his wife Sybil Yates; his children, Dee Lupton (Hiram) of Arapahoe and Sean Yates (DoriJo) of New Bern; his grandchildren, Buddy Yates of Wilmington and Cheyenne Lupton of Carrboro; and his loyal Dachshund.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home & Crematory (52 Bryant St, Alliance, NC 28509). A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
