He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Gilbert and Edith Tabor Gilbert; his wife Louise Pauline Gilbert; his grandparents, William "Bill" and Wilda Mae Gilbert; and his brother Jerry Claude Gilbert.
He is survived by: his children, Judy Ann Nay (Robert "Bob") of Chattanooga, Tennessee, David Michael Gilbert (Cynthia) of Knoxville and Daniel Lee Gilbert (Jenny) of Anderson; and his grandchildren, Jacob Gilbert, Elizabeth Gilbert Prats (Joe), Ruth Nay Santos (Jordan) and Joshua. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21st 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:50 PM at the Andrews United Methodist Church (101 Chestnut St, Andrews, NC 28901). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 21st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
