He was predeceased by : his parents, Edna Dehart Mason and Calvin Eugene Mason; his granddaughter Riece Montgomery Brown; and his brother Ronald Mason. He is survived by : his close friend Trudy Parker Mason; his children, Eric Dwayne Mason (Amy), Sally Rice Brown (Robbie), Joseph Gray Rice (Chelsea) and Anna Rice Poole (Travis); his grandchildren, Eli, Carter Brown, Parker, Mia Rice, Andie, Austyn Poole, Cody and Matthew Mason; and his brothers, Calvin Mason, Hoyt Mason (Cindy) and Tim Mason (Jo).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Samuel Lawson Mason to Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, to help with expenses.
