Shirley Matthews Surles Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Matthews Surles of Angier, North Carolina, who passed away on April 25, 2026, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Jasper and Lela West Matthews; her husband Jerry D. Surles; and her siblings, Joe West, Jackie Adams, Janet Terrill and Jerry West.
She is survived by: her daughters, Deana Surles Warren (Mike) and Dawn Surles Evans (Bobby); her grandchildren, Austin Byrd and Alexa Byrd Gentry (Dallas); her siblings, Joyce Wall (CB), John West, Mike West and Joey Matthews (Julie); her sister-in-law Dolores Priest (Johnny); and her caregivers, Carolyn Jernigan, Sheena Barbour, Amy Stephenson, Becky West, Michelle Giles and Surles. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
