We announce the death of Thomas J. Cummings (Angier, North Carolina), who passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 78. Thomas will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Thomas will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Thomas will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Thomas’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Valerie Biribin Cummings; his children, John Cummings and Gabrielle (Tripp Amos); his grandchildren, AJ and Catey; and his brothers, Patrick (Sharon), Francis (Mary), Joseph and Vincent.
As a final gift, Tom donated his brain for research at the Duke/UNC Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, hoping thereby to continue his lifelong service to God and man.
