He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Graham Smith and Annie Eanes Smith; his siblings, Margaret Smith Keller and J. G. Smith; and his daughter Lori Smith Sykes (Tracy Sykes).
He is survived by: his wife Marion; his daughter Jamie Smith Nyland; his grandchildren, Ashley Nyland, Kaitlin Nyland Beard (Josh Beard) and Justin Sykes; his great grandchildren, Lorilei, Roxy, Traci, Wren Sykes, Jade and Tate Beard; his son-in-law Tom Nyland; and his sisters, Nelli Smith Sutton, Ethel Smith and Patricia Hyatt.
