He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Lester Summey and Mary Nola Rector Summey. He is survived by: his wife Linda Stafford Summey; his sons, Michael Summey and David Summey (Stephanie); and his brother James L. Summey (Doris). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
