He was predeceased by: his wife Sarah Gower; his daughter Dwan Young-Padgett; and his grandson Rainey Young. He is survived by: his children, Don Gower (Brenda) and Beth Gower; his sister Yvonne Ennis; and his grandson Wesley. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
