She was predeceased by: her parents, Dillard O. Gibbons and Joyce Johnson Gibbons; her former husband Bobby G. Sams; her sister Juanita Gibbons Barber; and her brother-in-law Ronnie Barber.
She is survived by: her husband Thad Shaw; her children, Vicky Sams Johnson (James) and Steven A. "Sonny" Sams; her stepchildren, Linda Shaw and Thomas Shaw; her grandchildren, Robert Brooks (Bobby), Kelli Sams Heathman (Monty), Karie Sams Puckett (Michael) and Scott Sams (Megan); and her nieces, Michelle Barber Burhenn (Lee) and Kristal Barber Granger (Thomas). She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jeanie's memory to Abbotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church or the charity of one's choice.
