He was predeceased by : his stepparents, Leila Scott Farmer and Edward Oscar Huffman. He is survived by : his parents, Delores Hughes Huffman of Thomasville and Andrew Jackson Farmer of Burlington; his siblings, Rick Farmer (Lisa) of Trinity and Janice Farmer Craver of High Point; his half-brother Michael Farmer of Reidsville; and his stepbrothers, Barry Wilhoit (Wanda) of Thomasville and Michael Wilhoit (Paige) of High Point.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to The Arc of High Point, 153 Bellevue Drive, High Point, NC 27265 or a charity of donor's choice.

“Otis was such a bright light in the lives of all who knew him. If you knew him even a little bit, you saw his big heart and undeniable kindness. Otis was funny, but he also had a deep concern for his fellow man. I hope everyone has had a chance to read his books and stories. He had a deep love of God and his family.
