He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Melvin Sherwood and Etta Mae McIntyre Kapp; his children, Timothy Ray Sherwood and Cheryl Ann Sherwood Coleman; and his grandson Robert Colman Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Katherine Marie Hughes Sherwood; and his children, Joe Glenn Sherwood, Flo Lynn Sherwood Myers, James Roy Sherwood Jr., Etta Michelle Sherwood Rivers and Chrystal Angel Sherwood Duncan.
