He was predeceased by: his parents, Jimmy Monroe Capps and Lucille Myers Capps; and his brother Rev. Harold Capps. He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Pat" Taylor Capps; his daughters, Debbie Phillips (Mike) of Archdale and Sherri Shetley (Craig) of Thomasville; his brother Mark Capps of Lexington; his grandchildren, Dianne Angel (Wes) of Thomasville, Jena Helms (Jordan) of Lexington, Will Shetley of Thomasville, Luke Shetley of Thomasville and Phillip Shetley of Thomasville; and his great grandchildren, Gavin, Tyler, Aly and Avery. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The lying in state will be held on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the J. C. Green and Sons Funeral Home (122 W Main St, Thomasville, NC 27360). Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Gospel Light Independent Freewill Baptist Church (9042 US-311, Archdale, NC 27263). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
